From Failure to Fine Jewelry: The Remarkable Journey of Punit Sahu

Punit Sahu’s entrepreneurial journey began during his college years between 2015 and 2018, when business was already on his mind. He wanted to understand how businesses work, gain real experience and build something of his own. His first attempt was a small clothing business, but it failed. Instead of stopping there, Punit learned from the experience and returned to business with lessons from his father and their family business.

His next chapter came through his father’s loose emerald gemstone business. Punit saw an opportunity in the export market and decided to take the business in a new direction through jewelry designing. He joined a jewelry designing course to improve his skills and learn new techniques. Managing studies alongside business was not easy, and at times he even missed classes because of work. Still, he completed an 18 month jewelry designing course in just 12 months.

The early years brought difficult moments. During COVID 19, some products sent to clients were lost and never reached their destination. Punit had to give full refunds, creating financial pressure at a time when his business was still young. After the pandemic, he took a major business loan to restart. For some time, the loan stayed heavily on his mind. He then decided to focus on his work rather than constantly thinking about the debt. He went on to repay the entire loan within a single year.

His journey also brought international recognition. In 2023, Punit won a jewelry designing award in Dubai and received a major order from the city during the same year. His jewelry designs now reach clients in the United States and the United Kingdom, including people connected with fashion and red carpet events.

Family has remained a major part of Punit’s journey. His father encouraged him to take risks, while his mother gave him constant emotional strength. His elder brother, Shivam Sahu, helped turn his ideas and designs into reality.

At 28, Punit has his sights set on a new chapter. He hopes to open an office in New York City with help from some of his clients and is also waiting for the right opportunity to bring his jewelry designs to Bollywood.
