From Fire Safety to Smart Laundry: How Rakesh Mishra Is Reinventing an Everyday Industry

Rakesh Mishra’s entrepreneurial journey began in Udaipur, where business was learned through experience rather than textbooks. Around sixteen years ago, he entered fire safety manufacturing and supply through AFS Fire Safety and Speciality Geochem. The experience taught him about certification, quality standards, manufacturing, dealer networks and the patience required to build a business in an unglamorous industry.

That experience shaped his preference for businesses that solve everyday problems. Over the years, Rakesh moved into healthy foods with Piraji, portable oxygen cans through Just Breath, and garment care with Easy Spin. Across these ventures, he saw an opportunity in fragmented markets where customers needed greater consistency and small business owners needed better access to customers.

Easy Spin was created around this gap in India’s laundry and dry cleaning market. Rather than opening its own chain of stores, the company works with existing local laundries. Its technology gives partner stores app based order management, standard pricing, pickup and delivery coordination, digital payments and customer access. Customers can schedule pickups, select laundry or dry cleaning services, track orders and make digital payments.

The model also places strong attention on partner quality. Stores are audited and tested before receiving Easy Spin branding and verification. The company is live in Udaipur and Jaipur, with Delhi planned as its next market. A subscription model offers customers lower rates on wash and iron services, while the benefit is shared between Easy Spin and partner stores.

For Rakesh, one of the biggest lessons came from trying to introduce technology before proving its value to laundry owners. Shop owners wanted orders and timely payments, not another app.
